Elementary and upper secondary school

Most jobs require a basic education and a upper secondary school education increases your chances of getting a job. You have the opportunity to build on your expertise within the framework of our various programs.

Educational Contract

If you are under the age of 25, you can acquire upper secondary education with an education contract. The education contract is an agreement between you, the Swedish Public Employment Service and your home municipality.

• You study at an adult (Komvux) or a folk high- school

Education within the establishment program

When you participate in the establishment program, there are several different educational programs you can study. For example, it could be:

• Elementary or upper secondary education at an adult education (Komvux) or folk high-school. The education can give you basic eligibility for further studies.

Education within other support and programs

If you do not have a elementary or upper secondary education, you can in some cases study and receive compensation through the Swedish Public Employment Service's other support programs, such as the job and development guarantee program. For example, it could be:

• Elementary or upper secondary education at an adult education (Komvux) or folk high-school. The education can give you basic eligibility for further studies.
• Shorter vocational programs at Komvux, which can be a faster way to a job

Preparatory courses for elementary and upper secondary schools

You have the opportunity to get help with preparing for studies at elementary or upper secondary schools. For example, it could be:

• Motivational courses at folk high-schools. With motivational activities, you will be better equipped to continue studying by learning study techniques with a focus on Swedish, English, mathematics and social studies

Financial support

You can receive financial aid while you study in the context of any of the Swedish Public Employment Service's programs. You can receive compensation in the form of activity support, development allowance or establishment allowance.

Financial aid from the National Board of Student Aid

In some cases, you may receive financial aid from CSN for studies at the elementary and upper secondary school level. This applies both if you study at an adult school (Komvux) or attend equivalent education at a folk high- school.

If you need to complete a full upper secondary education, you may in some cases be entitled to a higher study grant from CSN. This applies, for example, if you:

• Have an educational contract
• Är 20 – 24 år och deltar i jobbgarantin för ungdomar eller jobb och utvecklingsgarantin
• Are 25 years of age or above
